Its a question that we get asked from time to time – usually from a potential client that has decided that it might be a nice idea to get a home security system, and then on learning the price if installation and equipment, might have second thoughts.
So how important is it to have a security system installed in your home?
Not just because it’s my business, but I genuinely think that it is one of the most important things that you could spend a few dollars on.
I will say this – I never hear this question being asked from a homeowner who just found that their alarm system thwarted a would be criminal, or its very presence has meant their family belongings have been safe. This is doubly assured if they have been broken in to before.
So not just as a knee-jerk to getting robbed a first time, but as an insurance policy against ever being broken in to. Get a security system.
Here’s my top ten reason;
1/ the cost of equipment and installation is much less than the replacement cost of the items that could be stolen (some of which can not be replaced)
2/ Your household contents insurance premiums will come down significantly, saving you further. Its also is a clear message from the insurer that they think ti much less likely that you will be broken in to and can afford to reduce your premiums.
3/ Installers can be in and out of your home in very little time – installation is not hard for a professional installer, minimising inconvenience.
4/ The value of your home may increase as a result – an alarmed home should be worth more on the market
5/ You will sleep easier knowing that your house is protected
6/ Go away on holidays or business trips without having to worry about the dangers
7/ Your friends will be jealous – it is a genuinely sought after item, and your friends will find themselves ‘keeping up with the Joneses’
8/ Take the opportunity to increase the value of the contents of your home – electronics, jewellery, without as much concern
9/ You will reduce the risk of having to say goodbye to irreplaceable items – photos stored on a computer, heirloom jewellery and the like
10/ back to base systems can help in the event of medical emergencies as well, as well as other functions you may not have thought of
That is just the short list. I am passionate about this subject and can probably list of hundreds of compelling reasons and features you may not have thought of.
So the question really, is, can afford to not install a home security system?
